PESTAWARE SUMMIT
British Pest Control Association (BPCA) has announced the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) as strategic partner for the Public Health and Communities stream at PestAware Summit 2027.

The new conference takes place at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, on Wednesday, 17 March 2027, bringing together pest management professionals with the sectors responsible for protecting people, places, products and the environment from pest risk.
CIEH will work with BPCA to help shape the Public Health and Communities programme, bringing environmental health expertise and the experience of professionals working in local authorities, housing, public health and community-facing services.
CIEH members will also receive discounted delegate tickets for PestAware Summit.

CIEH said:
“We greatly value CIEH’s relationship with BPCA and are delighted to be playing an active part in this event.
“The issues being discussed, including Awaab’s Law, healthy homes and changing pest risks against the backdrop of climate change, have real importance for public and environmental health.
“Bringing expert speakers and different professional perspectives together give us a great opportunity to share knowledge, challenge thinking and ultimately support better outcomes for the communities we serve.”
Safer homes, healthier communities
Pest problems can quickly become public health problems.
Rodents, cockroaches, birds and other pests can affect health, housing standards, neighbourhoods and people’s quality of life. For environmental health and housing professionals, managing those risks often requires cooperation between residents, landlords, local authorities and professional pest management providers.
Good pest management is therefore about much more than responding when an infestation is reported.
PestAware Summit is built around prevention and collaboration, creating space for the people managing pest risks in communities to share expertise, challenge existing approaches and better understand the options available to them.
Rosina Robson, BPCA Chief Executive, said:
“BPCA and CIEH have worked alongside each other for many years, so we’re delighted to be developing that relationship further through PestAware Summit.
Environmental health professionals and pest professionals are often dealing with the same problems from different perspectives. Whether it’s housing conditions, rodent activity, emerging pest risks or changes to legislation, better communication between our sectors can only lead to better outcomes.
“The Public Health and Communities stream gives us an opportunity to bring those communities together, share practical experience and look at how we can create safer homes and healthier communities.”
Public Health and Communities
The Public Health and Communities stream is aimed at environmental health professionals, local authorities, housing teams, public health professionals and others responsible for managing pest-related risks in communities.
The programme is being developed around the issues professionals are dealing with now, as well as the challenges likely to become more significant in the future.
Sessions are expected to explore areas including:
- Rats, drains and disease risk
- Awaab’s Law and pests as a housing hazard
- Regulation and stewardship in pest management
- Digital pest management, sensors and artificial intelligence
- PestWatch insights on rats and mice
- Emerging species and changing pest threats
- The potential impact of climate and environmental change on pest activity.
Bringing expertise together
For CIEH members, PestAware Summit is an opportunity to hear directly from pest management specialists while sharing the challenges environmental health professionals encounter in practice.
One Summit, four streams
Public Health and Communities is one of four specialist streams at PestAware Summit 2027, alongside:
- Food Security and Resilience
- Hospitality and Hygiene
- Conservation and Biodiversity.
Delegates can choose the programme most relevant to their work, while shared opening and closing sessions, networking, lunch and the exhibition will bring professionals from across all four sectors together.
